Jay Calder
Jay Calder is a fingerstyle acoustic guitarist, based near Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
Jay plays in an athletic, musicular style reminiscent of fingerstyle players like Don Ross, Michael Hedges, Antoine Dufour, Andy McKee, Stephen Bennett, Jacob Moon, and Alex Degrassi.
He uses two-handed tapping, false harmonics and other unusual techniques to draw an almost orchestral range of sound out of the guitar. His independent release, "Breakfast with Barnabas" as well as his live performances, are conducted without the benefit of overdubs, backing tracks or looping.
Jay's approach to music, despite his formidable technique, always puts the composition first.
Live work also allows Jay to communicate his humility, gentle sense of humour, and the powerful influence of his Christian faith upon his music. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
